Do you want to go to Prom?

February 26th, 2011

Yes, it is prom season again.  I remember those days…really, it was not THAT long ago.  Looking for a new dress that would be unique from all others, happy that I was going with “my guy” to the prom.  Wondering where we were going to be “seen” in my fabulous dress (of course, only worn once!).

I believe that going to dinner was the highlight of the event! Being seen at a great restaurant (like Canoe), not only by my peers, but surrounded by diners of all ages, was the best part. Not sure if I had salmon, but I know that my date had the New York Strip.  I know that I have great pictures and I felt like a princess.

As we get calls for small and large prom parties, I smile at the great memories and know we are helping others create their own!

Here comes the……Groom!

February 7th, 2011

Hey, everyone’s always talking about the bride and wedding day. Let’s discuss the groom—does he get a day? No, he gets a rehearsal dinner where everyone gets up and talks about him! But seriously- from tailgate to black tie, 30 guests to 170, rehearsal dinners have taken on a life of their own. Not to upstage the wedding, it allows the groom and family to “have the spotlight”.
Traditionally held for out of town guests, the dinner was held after the “walk through” of ceremony and included those who came from afar and bridal party. Now, I have seen everything from intimate to feeding the entire guest list! AV presentations that can be embarrassing to endearing, groom’s cakes of decadent chocolate.
As the bride is always asked “what’s your idea of the perfect wedding day?” Thought I’d pose this question for the groom—“What’s your perfect rehearsal dinner?”

“Destination” Wedding

January 21st, 2011
Welcome to my first blog!  I am excited to be able to share all the special event experiences and update you on my latest ideas (and want you share yours with me).
Ok…so, it is …cold.  I was wishing I was still on vacation, by the water, in Costa Rica.  During my morning walk there, I saw a beautiful wedding, right by the ocean, surrounded by nature-such a unique location!  It reminded me of the remarkable “destination” for weddings right here in Atlanta…Canoe…the river (water), outside, nature…all the destination site expectations, right here in Atlanta. (Minus the expenses ? airfare, hotel, etc.).
So, while I ‘m sitting here in the coldest weather Vinings has seen in sometime, we are busy planning lots of weddings for spring, summer and fall.
I am looking forward to a great 2011.  Hope you will follow me on this journey!
