Makes it all Worthwhile :)

April 16th, 2014

Received some heartfelt notes from recent events.  Thought we would share some of their kind words with all of you.  Thanks for allowing us to be part of your memories!

“Dana & Emily,
Good morning. I hope you both had a lovely rest of the weekend. I would like to thank you both for assisting with the wedding this past Saturday. Every detail was spot on and we are forever thankful for the exceptional experience we had at your establishment. If you have a place for reviews, we would like to give Canoe and the both of you an outstanding, 5 stars review. …. thank you and that special day will be in our thoughts forever. “  ~ Vanessa

“Hi Laurie,
My heart is full of joy when I think of Nina and Zachary’s wedding day, and Canoe is a big part of the reason why.
The gardens and restaurant were beautiful.  The food was incredible.  The day ran so smoothly that Nina and I were totally relaxed.  Dana was the best!  She kept track of the time and pacing of the event, and kept us informed of what was coming up next, so we never had to stress.  Everything just seemed to flow along…like we were floating on the river!
Our guests have been making superlative comments to us.  “That was the best food I have ever had at a wedding.” “Nina’s wedding was the nicest I have ever been to.” etc. Thank you is not enough to express how much we appreciate all the work that you, Dana, and the staff did to make the day so spectacular, but please know, we are very appreciative.” ~ Elizabeth

Ask and You Shall Receive

January 12th, 2012

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Dining Critic, John Kessler, recently featured Canoe in an article about attempting to be healthy and light eating while dining out (link: http://tiny.cc/ece7g). I appreciate being included in the article, it made me think about how to help patrons navigate through our menu if they are really trying to keep those lean New Year’s resolutions.

At Canoe, we are here to make our customers happy and provide an excellent experience. If you are trying to find something on the menu that is leaner, our servers are here to help you answer any questions. If that special something that you are looking for is not jumping out to you on our menu, tell your server what protein you would like and we can take it from there. In my opinion (call me bias if you like!), a good chef in a scratch-made house can create a low fat, lean dish for you that is full of flavor on the fly. We do this all the time! One of my favorite things is when a customer is looking for just vegetables – this allows for me to be very creative and make a dish that is seasonal, light but delicious. Whether you want beef, chicken, pork, fish or just vegetables — we can make it happen, just let us know what you are looking for.

I hope that eating light will never be so tasty! Good luck on those resolutions!

My Summer Dessert

June 24th, 2011

Summer is officially here! With temperatures already reaching the mid 90s here in Atlanta, nothing beats the heat like our specialty item Blueberry Semifredo with Greek Yogurt and Lavender here at Canoe. In case you did not know, “semifredo” translates to half-frozen. The mix of sweet and tart blueberries combined with Greek yogurt has a light taste that will not weigh you down in this summer heat. This dessert is one of my favorites to enjoy during the summer. Stop by, have a seat on our patio and cool off with this dessert or one of our many great great ones!

Cheers,

Carvel

More Holidays Around the Corner this Spring!

April 26th, 2011

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend – we enjoyed having guests pack out the restaurant for brunch! I love witnessing firsthand the joy families share over a special meal. Another spring holiday is quickly approaching – Mother’s Day! I’d like to personally invite you to Mother’s Day brunch at Canoe. There’s no better way to say “thank you” to Mom than a scrumptious meal and a seat on our patio overlooking the river. I’ve been working on a special menu for the occasion using some of the freshest produce from my garden – topping pancakes with sun-ripened strawberries and garnishing sandwiches with greens from out back. The special garden dishes will be served alongside some of my most in-demand favorites like the crispy rock shrimp salad. I can assure you that your family will enjoy a special afternoon spending time together over a carefully prepared feast. For reservations, call 404-432-2663.

Happy Mother’s Day,

Carvel

Planting Day is Here!

April 13th, 2011

Anticipating the warm sun and clear skies, I’m looking forward to the first planting day of the season on April 15th. Soon you’ll taste the fresh fruits of our labor atop baked treats and alongside our house-cured meats. Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, figs and asparagus have all come back from last year and are flowering now – you should see how gorgeous the garden is looking these days! Fragrant herbs are populating my garden beds and begging to be simmered on the stove top.

I have to tell you – this is probably my absolute favorite time of year. It brings a smile to my face when I recall picking fresh basil for a quick salad.

I hope that you’ll be joining us for a meal at Canoe at the delicious start to what promises to be an abundant spring.

Cheers,

Carvel

Calvados Punch is at Canoe!

April 1st, 2011

While everyone anticipates spring’s arrival, it is certainly a busy time for many. Today I was imagining how I would relax when I have a spare moment or two – I believe a well-crafted cocktail will be included! Here at Canoe we take the same time and finesse in making cocktails as we do in preparing our food. Using only the finest ingredients, we create original drinks infused with good spirits. Have you tried the Calvados Punch? Relax on our riverside patio with one of these in hand to forget your worries!

In Normandy, it is too cool for grapes so the farmers there have orchards instead of vineyards. In our Norman-inspired punch, we feature a brandy composed of a selection of over 200 different apples which we combine with cranberry and cider for a distinctly apple cocktail. Come by for drinks and have a seat on the patio – there’s nothing else like it in Atlanta!
